Portrait/studio course

08/11/2010
I decided I really ought to learn about studio lighting and taking portrait images, so I went on a day's course with Simon Watkinson.

Simon explained the technical bits about how studio lights work and how to set them for a correct exposure using a light meter. We were instructed to use ISO 100, f11 as a starting point and the studio flash was set accordingly. There were five of us there and we all had a chance to take images for each of the lighting set ups. The poor model, Claire, had to endure the chilly conditions until the heating had an effect, but we all had a good time, learnt a lot and a meal in the pub down the road was thrown in.
